What: Paddle the Intracoastal Waterway around the sailboat anchorage, Las Olas Blvd waterway and northbound along the Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal waterway. If the ocean is super flat and the group wants to, we may choose to tote the paddle boards across the street to paddle along the beach. We can only do this on super, super flat calm days.
What to Bring: Sunglasses, camera, towel and bathing suit.
Most mornings Fort Lauderdale beach is the definition of zen. If the weather is flat, come watch the sunrise and relax! Mornings can be rough but when you’re relaxing on a SUP paddle board watching the sun come up can make it a refreshing start to anyone’s day!
Sunrise is a great time to paddleboard in Fort Lauderdale. The sun comes up quickly and paddleboarding is a great way to welcome a new day. The heat of the day hasn’t hit yet and you get it from the trip just before it starts to get really hot. The sunrise is always a glorious event but even so, we only do this trip on absolutely beautiful weather days. That actually means we run this tour on most of the days we have in Ft Lauderdale. We’re known for our awesome weather here. On this tour, we typically leave our marina and paddle straight over to the sailboat anchorage. This is a nice place to paddle for a bit and a great spot for some great sunrise pictures. Then we paddle through the Las Olas Blvd bridge and northbound along the Intracoastal. There are lots of great houses, skyscrapers and mega yachts to marvel at. The whole tour lasts about 90 minutes and it’s a great activity to do in Fort Lauderdale while on vacation.
On some days, when the weather is just absolutely phenomenal, we may tote the boards across the street to the beach and paddle along the ocean. Even a ripple of a wave upsets this idea so it depends on the weather and the vote from the tour attendees. Whether we paddle along the Intracoastal or along the beach, you’re sure to have a great time getting up and paddleboarding on an early morning sunrise paddleboard tour.
